The first toad of Spring.

This evening, as we stepped out for our (fast-becoming) customary late night walk, we spied our resident toad for the first time this year. He was hanging out on the stoop, like any self-respecting local.

Then on the way back in, we caught him burrowing in the mulch (pardon the flash, but it was a must to capture him in camouflage.)

The camera got to play outside this weekend.

…and I swear they are never prettier than in those first couple of days of blooming. I don’t think it was a coincidence that when I got home I wanted canned peaches like nobody’s business.

And so I partook.

Rainy day in Williamsburg, but coffee taste tests know no better kind of day. The Diner Blend I spoke of yesterday is actually quite tasty!
